Mask Kreations by Amy Distributes Hundreds of Free Masks with Help from Mini-Grant

Amy Sanchez lives in the heart of Lewiston’s Tree Streets neighborhood. Her goal is to create and distribute at least 750 high quality masks to at-risk neighbors in the midst of COVID-19. Her Healthy Neighborhoods Mini-Grant grant funded over 100 yards of fabric, thousands of yards of thread, and small stipends for herself and a neighbor who created the masks in Amy’s home.

Amy initially envisioned a public event to distribute the masks (in fact, her first batch of masks in September 2020 were distributed at the Back to School event), but during the high risk Covid weeks of January and February 2021, she opted instead to partner with neighborhood non-profits who serve the same residents - namely Trinity Jubilee and Kaydenz Kitchen - who would ensure the masks reached the folks who need them. She continues to take orders for masks, and is actively seeking other distribution partners.
